Six held in Cable Sunil's murder

Suspects wanted to avenge the killing of their friend Cable Chandru

Police alleged that Lingaraju alias Loki (26), Sunil alias Nalkubhashe (19), Naveen alias Halukuri (20), all from Byatarayanapura, Arogyanadan alias Ajay (19), Nandeesh alias Katu, both from Bapujinagar, and Arun alias Vale (20) of Gangondanahalli, hacked L J Sunil Kumar alias Cable Sunil (24) at a house in K P Agrahara 9th Cross last Friday.

The suspects wanted to avenge the killing of Cable Chandru whom Sunil and his accomplices had reportedly murdered in 2008, police said. Lingaraju also wanted to settle scores with Sunil who had threatened him over non-repayment of a loan, police added.

Police have recovered a silver-coloured SUV with a fake registration number, three iron rods and two knives allegedly used by the suspects. Lingaraju’s associates Pramod and Puneet, whom police accuse of instigating the murder, are absconding.

10 arrested for gambling

The police have arrested ten persons in a raid on a gambling den in BMK Layout, Chamarajpet. They alleged that Mahadev (50), Ramu (40), Chandrashekhar (33), Rajendra (41), Lokesh (34), Mohan (42), Manjunath (33), Shivakumar (37), Ravikumar, and Keshav (40), all from Chamarajpet, were engaged in andar baahar gambling.
Police recovered Rs 4,720 in cash from the arrested persons. Chamarajpet police have booked a case under Section 87 of the Karnataka Police Act.     

2 women held for burglary

Two women who had allegedly stolen gold jewellery and silver articles worth Rs one lakh from a house in Rajajinagar on February 12 have been nabbed.

Pavithra (24) and Jayanthi (33), both from Hosaguddadahalli, Mysore Road, are the suspects in the burglary case.

Police said the two befriended the resident of the house, Bhagyamma.

Pavithra stole the keys to the house and when Bhagyamma was out of station, the pair made away with valuables, police added.

Motorcycle lifter held

Upparpet police arrested a 34-year-old man and recovered 11 motorcycles worth Rs 5.5 lakh from him last Friday.

Ameer Pasha, a resident of Kolar had allegedly stolen the two-wheelers in S J Park and Kolar Urban police station limits. Pasha then sold the motorcycles in Kolar, Upparpet police added.

Painter hangs self

A 30-year-old painter committed suicide by hanging from a tree branch in Byapanahalli on Sunday night.

The deceased Chakradharanath was a resident of G M Palya and hailed from Assam. He had come to Bangalore to eke out living and was unmarried. Post mortem was conducted at Lady Curzon and Bowring Hospital, police said.

Held for vehicle theft

The Upparpet police have recovered 11 bikes by arresting Ammer Pasha (34) of Kolar. He had stolen the bikes parked in front of houses during nights using duplicate keys in and around SJ Park area and in Kolar.

On a tip off, the police arrested him when he was moving suspiciously with a stolen bike, said the police.

Assaulted

Two unidentified persons assaulted a person in City Market area on Sunday night.
According to police the victim Bharath and his friend Kumbaram were returning home when two people picked up a quarrel with them without any reason.

As a verbal duel ensued between them, the duo assaulted Bharath with a lethal weapon and fled. The injured was immediately shifted to St John’s Hospital, police said.
