Dalits' status in State reviewed

Representatives of employees’ unions alleged that many qualified employees were denied promotions and prime positions in the department because they were dalits.

A representative of the State Secretariat Employees’ Union alleged that the government had not filled backlog vacancies for a long time. Many of them complained that non-dalits enjoy the benefits meant for dalits by securing fake caste certificates.

Former minister Dr H C Mahadevappa appealed to the Commission to not include more castes into the SC list.

Vice president of the Commission Prof N M Kamble listened to the complaints.
