A 12-year-old boy died after a long sliding gate installed at the entrance of a software company's office in South Bengaluru fell on him on Friday.
Manjunath K and his two friends had stopped by the office of Dassault Systems located next to NMKRV College in Jayanagar 3rd Block around 4.10 pm. "We keep the gates 90% closed all the time, but unfortunately, one of them came out of the system and fell on the boy," a security guard said, adding that his colleague Manoj also sustained injuries while trying to lift the gate that had fallen on the boy.
Manjunath suffered grievous head injuries and was rushed to Sagar Hospital in Tilaknagar where doctors declared him brought dead. There was bleeding from his ears as well, hospital sources said. The Jayanagar police were intimated, who rushed to the spot and registered a case of accidental death due to negligence and made the software firm's security staff culpable for the crime.
The boy was a class 6 student at Vijaya Kannada Higher Primary School. His father Kumar had died while his mother Chandramma is a homemaker. The family lives in Jayanagar 1st Block, police said.
