Gupta had stayed at the couple’s residence at Sunderbani from March 29 to 31. After two hour long questioning by security officials, Dr Khem Raj Sharma and his wife Dr Champa Sharma, told mediapersons that they had nothing to do with Gupta’s spying.

“Gupta reached our residence on March 29 and left on March 31,” they said.
Gupta had come crossing the Wagah border in a vehicle registered in Pakistan. On March 31 she again left for Pakistan.

During Gupta’s stay in Sunderbani her friend Dr Prem Lata also met her. Dr Prem Lata  arrived on March 28 and left on April 1. Both Gupta and Dr Lata have  been friends since their days as students in a medical college in Delhi.

Dr Khem Raj and Dr Champa came in touch with Gupta through Dr Prem Lata. The doctor couple told the media persons that during the time Gupta was at their residence an army officer of the rank of major also visited their house and checked the documents of the  vehicle used by Gupta.

Gupta and Dr Lata also visited various places in Jammu. The doctor couple stated that Gupta had also visited them at Ramban, a place on the Jammu-Srinagar road, 25 years ago  when they were posted there. “She met us when she was returning from Kashmir,” said the couple.

The senior officers of security agencies, including a superintendent of police and a superintendent of CBI, who questioned the couple refused to talk to media.
They, however, said an Intelligence Bureau (IB) team would  also arrive from Delhi to question Dr Khem Raj and his wife.
