Actor Juhi Chawla shares a special bond with Sandalwood. She is still fondly remembered for her performance in Kannada film 'Premaloka', directed by V Ravichandran in 1987. It went on to become a cult movie. It was only after her success in Kannada that she went on to bag meatier projects in Bollywood.
This is precisely why the actor likes to return to work in Sandalwood whenever an interesting project comes her way.

After crooning for a song in 'Pushpaka Vimana', Juhi worked on another Kannada movie titled 'Very Good 10/10', which was released only at film festivals.

"It is a children's film and the song has a beautiful tone to it. The director wanted me to sing the song and appear in it too, which I gladly agreed to do," says Juhi.

She says that she made a lot of effort to understand the meaning of every word that she was singing and getting the pronunciation right.

"It was worth the trouble though," she says.

Juhi currently has her hands full with Bollywood projects. It's been a little over four years since 'Gulaab Gang' released and the actor says that she has signed a new project which is scripted on similar lines.

"I am working on a film that is very close to what I did in 'Gulaab Gang'. It's an experimental film that looks at the lives of a politician and a psychologist. While Arshad Warsi plays the politician, I play the psychologist. There are a lot of grey shades to my character. Although, I am not seen in every scene, my presence is felt throughout the film," says Juhi. She adds that here, for a change, the woman gets to call the shots.

She will also don the role of a lively Punjabi lady in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 'Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga.'

"The film has Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. I play a woman who aspires to be an actor. It's a lively role," she says.

While her career is going great guns, Juhi is gearing up for another season of Indian Premier League (IPL) which starts on April 7.

She is the co-owner of the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders and says that she is always anxious whenever her team plays.

"The nervous moments are there during every IPL. I try to stay calm but that never really happens. But all said and done, ups and downs are all a part of the game," she adds.

The actor is also preparing to take off on a vacation to Austria with her children.
"Every year, I set apart 20 days for my family and don't take up any commitments during that time. My children love to go skiing and I accompany them. The first and the last time I went skiing was 15 years ago. I ended up with a broken leg and I haven't gathered enough courage to go skiing again," she signs off.
