Mumbai reels under heatwave

India's commercial capital is reeling under extreme heat. Over Sunday and Monday, Mumbai and its suburbs recorded a temperature of 41 degrees Celsius.

It is the highest temperature recorded in March in seven years. On March 17, 2011, the city had recorded a temperature of 41.3 degrees Celsius.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre of the IMD, the heatwave is expected to continue over the next few days in Mumbai.

On Monday, the Santacruz observatory recorded 41 degree Celsius, while Colaba recorded 38 degree Celsius.

Several places in Maharashtra showed recorded temperatures between 39 and 40 degrees Celsius, including Ahmednagar, Jalgaon, Malegaon, Solapur, Nanded, Osmanadad, Parbhani, Chandrapur, Nagpur, Wardha and Yavatmal.
