Following a brief inquiry, BBMP Commissioner and District Election Officer Manjunath Prasad has filed a police complaint over the removal of former prime minister Indira Gandhi's pictures from outside a few Indira Canteens.

DH had carried a report on the removal of the pictures from the canteens.

"After reading the report in Deccan Herald, we held an inquiry and found some miscreants had removed the picture of Indira Gandhi in Mallasandra Canteen, ward number 13," Prasad said. "We have filed a case in the police station concerned and an FIR has been registered."

Prasad also added that the poll code does not ask for removal of pictures of former leaders.

The Indira Canteen is a flagship scheme of the state government to provide food at subsidised rates. They serve lunch and dinner for Rs 10, and breakfast at Rs 5.
