Lalu's elder son to wed Aishwarya Rai, daughter of RJD MLA

Tej Pratap, the elder son of RJD president Lalu Prasad and former chief minister Rabri Devi, is likely to marry the daughter of RJD MLA Chandrika Rai.

Incidentally, the prospective bride's name is Aishwarya Rai.

According to sources aware of the developments between the two families, the ring ceremony will take place at a posh hotel later this month, while the wedding is likely in May.

Chandrika Rai, who was the transport minister in the previous regime, is the son of the former chief minister of Bihar Daroga Rai.

"It's a perfect match between the families of two former chief ministers," said a source here on Thursday.

Daroga Rai was Bihar's tenth chief minister from February 16, 1970, to December 22, 1970. Chandrika is at present the MLA from Parsa in Saran district.

Tej Pratap made his political debut in 2015 when he won from the Mahua Assembly constituency in Vaishali and became the health minister in the Nitish Cabinet.

However, more than his administrative and political acumen, Tej Pratap has been in the news mostly for the wrong reasons. His uncharitable remarks during Sushil Modi's son's marriage last year drew wide flak.

It's not clear whether Lalu, given his health condition and incarceration, will be able to attend the ring-ceremony, which is likely in the third week of this month. Lalu is presently admitted in AIIMS, New Delhi.

Last month, when Lalu's youngest son Tejashwi Yadav was asked when he would get married, the former deputy chief minister of Bihar said, "First let the wedding bells chime for my elders like Chirag (Ram Vilas Paswan's son), Nishant (Nitish Kumar's son) and Tej Pratap. I am in the queue."
