Last Updated 08 April 2018, 11:09 IST

The Chitradurga police on Friday registered an FIR against Gujarat MLA and Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani for allegedly inciting violence in his speech against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The police registered the FIR following a complaint by Chitradurga district unit BJP president K S Naveen.

The BJP also lodged a separate complaint with the election commission in this regard.

Earlier in the day, the Gujarat MLA had urged the Karnataka youth to create ruckus at Modi's rallies in the state in the run up to the Assembly elections, to protest against the prime minister's failure to generate two crore jobs."Biggest role of Karnataka's youth should be to enter Modi's campaign programme in Bengaluru on April 15, hurl chairs in the air and disrupt and then ask him what happened to two crore jobs." Mevani had said if Modi cannot answer, he should retire and go to the Himalayas.
