Last Updated 10 April 2018, 09:47 IST

A calf that was stuck in a slush was rescued by Forest Department officials and labourers at Palibetta.

A herd of elephants had come to Shambhulinga estate in Palibetta on Sunday night in search of water. An eight-month-old female calf got stuck in the slush and struggled to come out of the pond. Looking at the condition of the calf, its mother was crying on the banks of the pond.

The officials, who rushed to the spot chased the elephants into the forest and rescued the calf, which later joined its mother.
