Scattered rains at many places in state

Showers were reported from Kalaburagi, Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga districts on Wednesday.

Moderate to light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning lashed Kalaburagi district in the evening.

Though it was sunny in the morning, the weather changed to cloudy late afternoon, leading to the showers.

In Kalaburagi city, it started raining at around 5 pm and the showers lasted for more than an hour.

While Afzalpur, Aland and Kamalapur taluks received light rainfall, showers were expected in the evening or night in Chincholi, Sedam and other taluks.

Moderate rain lashed parts of Kodagu district. The sky remained overcast throughout the day and Madikeri received rain coupled with thunder and lightning for two hours.

There were showers in Bhagamandala, Talacauvery, Napoklu, Siddapura, Bettageri, Avandooru, Chettalli, Suntikoppa, Palooru, Galibeedu and Kalooru. Sringeri in Chikkamagaluru district too received rainfall in the afternoon.

Moderate to heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and lightning lashed several parts of Hosanagar taluk in Shivamogga district. Electricity poles were uprooted in the villages of the taluk as trees fell on them. Ripponpet also received good spell of rain.
