Police foil dacoity bid, open fire on accused in Kalaburagi

Two dacoits struck at Ashraya Colony on the outskirts of Kalaburagi city early Thursday morning and were fired upon by the police.  

The two dacoits are identified as Shekhar and Azeem, both residents of Alanda checkpost. They attempted to attack the police in a bid to escape.  

At this point, PSIs Parashurama and Waheed Kotwal shot the dacoits in the leg. The accused who were injured are now being treated at the district hospital.  

Constables Bande Nawaz and Bhima Naik were also injured in the operation. They are being treated at the Basaveshwara Hospital.  

The accused duo are wanted in many dacoity, murder and other cases. The case is registered at the Kalaburagi Rural police station.
