Campaigning picks up pace

While some candidates have formed syndicates with the backing of a political party for campaigning, some are involved in individual campaigning.

On Sunday, campaigning began as early as 5 in the morning. In Sultanpet, large groups of people were seen going from house to house seeking votes for their respective candidates.
On the contrary, in Dibbur village small groups of supporters were seen persuading people at the bus stands, markets, milk diary and hotels to cast their vote in support of their candidate.

In Manchanabele village, leaders of various political parties assembled at one place to discuss the do’s and don’ts during campaigning. Some leaders also took part in campaigning.

Spouses of the candidates campaigning for their husband or wife was a common sight.
