A circular in this regard would be issued to the heads of schools within two-three days to appoint the guest lecturers, revealed Primary and Secondary Education Minister Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he said that 2,500 guest teachers would be appointed for high schools for the first time, and Rs 3,000 would be their monthly remuneration.

The process of recruiting 4,928 primary schools teachers, 2,821 high school teachers, and 3,000 PU teachers had been almost completed. The selection list had been sent to the officials concerned for verification, and the appointment of teachers would take another couple of months.

Inconvenience

To prevent inconvenience to students due to shortage of teachers, the government had made an arrangement for guest teacher, and they would work till the process of recruiting regular teachers was over, the minister stated.

“For Pre-Univeristy colleges, appointment of guest teachers is not a new development. However, guest teachers were usually appointed after a couple of months of school reopening. This year, the decision was taken very early, and there would be no shortage of teachers at any school. The remuneration for PU guest lecturers will be Rs 4,800 per month, and the pay would be revised, if required,” the Minister said.

Transfer of teachers would be done through counselling this time, and the entire process would be very transparent.

Vacancy, and seniority lists had already been hosted on the website of the department,  Vishweshwar Hegde Hegde added.
