Addressing delegates at the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) here, he said it would be of great service to the City if residents pay their taxes on time. He said, BBMP requires a huge sum for integrated development of the City, for which tax revenue is the only source of income to the palike.  “I also expect industrial houses to pay statutory taxes on time and contribute for the development of an ever growing City such as Bangalore,” Nataraj said.

The mayor then called for increased cooperation from industry/trade associations for the development of the City. “Looking only at the Government as a solution for all problems is not the right way. We would welcome industry bodies, if they take a stand to develop infrastructure in any of the 198 wards,” the Mayor said. Voluntary organisations, including NGOs, have for long kept complaining about lack of good administration, but have not come forward with any proposal, he added.

In his address, FKCCI president J Crasta hoped the new Mayor would address issues such as trade and health licences. He suggested BBMP take up long lasting solutions of concreting roads, instead of asphalting them.   Later, addressing reporters, Deputy Mayor N Dayanand said consultations with geologists will be held to sink borewells in the areas facing severe water shortage.
