Now, back into the track as a senior citizen, he is about to prove that age is no bar to one’s talent. However, in this venture, he has a unique companion. The costliest cycle in India, Trek Madone.

D’Souza had ordered this cycle at the Jyothi cycle company in Mangalore almost a month ago and it was delivered to him on Sunday. In fact, the cycle company had organised a handing over ceremony in which, the Rs 2.3 lakh worth cycle was handed over to D’souza by leading business man G Vishwanath Kamath.

Trek Madone is a light weight cycle made of carbon fibres. It weighs only 6 kgs, but its body, which has a life long guarantee, is stronger than steel. It is a product of Canada based Trek Bicycle Corporation and has 21 gears. This is the costliest ever cycle sold in India.

National champion and national award winner of 1974, cyclist Nobert D’Souza is now planning to compete in the veteran’s category in various cycling competitions and have bought Trek Madone with this prospect. Let’s wish him good luck and hope he brings more laurels to Mangalore.
