The incident came to light when the zoo keeper observed that the Chinkara looked dull. He immediately informed the Zoo veterinarians. When the veterinarians examined the animal they found that its limbs had cobra bite injuries.
However, efforts to rescue the Chinkara was in vain, as the animal was declared dead. Veterinarians Prayag and Dharmaveer Shetty conducted the autopsy.
