The teachers received the salary for the month of March by the end of April. However, some are yet to get the salary for the month of March. Those who have received the salary of March are waiting for the salary of April. “Its already May 10, still we are waiting for the salary,” said a teacher.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, a teacher on condition of anonymity said “We have been doing all the works which government teachers do. Till recently, we were engaged in census work. From today onwards, we have election duty. However, when it comes to the salary, the government teachers are far better than the aided school teachers. We do not get salary on time. Some times, it is delayed by a month.”

She said “those teachers who depend on salary, find it very difficult to earn their living.”
Dakshina Kannada has over 100 such aided schools. There is always a problem of allotment when it comes to the salary of the aided school teachers. If the government considers government and aided teachers as one single entity, then there would not have been any problem of allotment and the salary would have come on time, said another teacher.

When contacted, DDPI Chame Gowda said “owing to the delay in allotment, the salary was delayed for the month of March. However, the salary of April has already been credited.”  BEO said “the allotment for the salary of aided teachers were released late. Moreover, the Manager of BEO offices were on election duty. Hence, the billing was also delayed for the month of March. However, the salary bill for the month of April has already been sent to the treasury and many have already received the salary. The salary will be credited within two days for those who have not received. If there is any delay in crediting the salary, then they can approach me directly.”
