Police arrest gang, recover Rs 8 lakh jewellery

  They were identified as Krishna from Ramanagar town, Dhama and Manjunath of Yeshwanthpur, T Murthy of Mariyappanapalya, Narayan of Somwarpet and Aslam of Malur taluk, said police.

On a tip off, the police surrounded the suspects when they were planning to rob citizens on Mysore Road. The suspects had stolen a car from Hebbugodi and had robbed citizens in Sanjaynagar and City Market area.

In another incident, the Kalasipalya police arrested Imran alias Gandhi (22) from Padarayanapalya and recovered gold chains worth Rs 2.75 lakh. The suspects had robbed women in Kalasipalya, N R Road and in BMTC buses.

Ten gold coins stolen

Thieves struck at a house in Koramangala by breaking open its back door and made away with  ten gold coins worth Rs one lakh. The incident came to light when V T Joseph, a resident of Ist block returned with his family on Monday and found the coins missing from the cupboard. Joseph who runs a hotel had gone out of the City on Friday, police said.
