A trip down memory lane

It was presented by the musical group Tamanna and took the audience down memory lane for more than three hours.

The singers, with their indomitable spirit and untiring zeal, presented before the audience melodies of great maestros like Burman brothers,  Naushad, Lakshmikant Pyarelal, Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Mukesh, Manna Dey and other heavy weights of Bollywood music.

The event started off with Vedic chants by the students of Brahmi organisation, to which the revenue generated from the musical event was donated. After that, singers of the troupe — Rajani, Chandan, Mahantesh, Hritvika and Pavankumar — rendered a devotional song Eh Malik Tere Bandein Hum collectively.

The jam-packed auditorium was all ears to the melodious tracks. When Rajani and Mahantesh sang Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas, the audience went crazy and joined the singers. Another everlasting melody, Dil to Hai Dil by Lata Mangeshkar  was sung by Rajani.

Chandan enthralled the music enthusiasts with some chartbuster songs like Ye Shyam Mastani  and Aaja Sanam. Though they were amateur singers, they performed more than hundred songs like true professionals.

“Music bands are mushrooming day by day. But none of them caters to people who are above 60. Thanks to Tamanna, I was able to listen to some of my favourite classic tracks live. While listening to the songs, I remembered my younger days, when I watched movies at the first show itself. Kishore Kumar and Manna Dey were my favourite singers,” says Mithun Mahapatra, a retired professor.
