<p>The children were playing on the streets in Hyder Ali Mohallah, Zakir Hussain Mohallah and Azad Road, when a pack of dogs attacked as many as 20 of them. Eye witnesses told Deccan Herald that 10 children below the age of 10 were grievously injured in the incident.<br />The ferocious dogs bit Shaban on his forehead and he needed 20 stitches. Another boy, Wasim was bitten near his mouth and Kumar was bitten in his rear.<br /><br />The children were admitted to the Government Hospital and several nursing homes here. Two of them, who sustained deep bite injuries, were shifted to Kolar for further treatment.<br /><br />Protest<br /><br />Parents of the children staged a protest in front of the hospital demanding the Town Municipal Council to cull the ferocious dogs.<br /><br />TMC president B M Prakash visited the Government Hospital and consoled the children and their parents. <br /><br />He promised them that the Town Municipal Council would make arrangements to cull the dogs on Thursday morning. “We recently killed about 60 street dogs to reduce their<br /> menace. However, there is stiff opposition from animal organisations against the culling of dogs,” he told Deccan Herald.<br /><br />Prakash added that the number of stray dogs had increased due to the profussion of the meat stalls in the town.<br /><br />“We will ask the owners to shift the stalls out of residential areas,” TMC president said.</p>
