The meeting, which lasted nearly one hour, took place at the Prime Minister’s residence. During the meeting, Anil Ambani was understood to have put forth his views on the gas pricing issue, sources said.
The Supreme Court in its recent ruling stated that gas is a national asset and the government has the sovereign right to decide its price and supply. This verdict goes in favour of Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Industries Limited by turning down the family sponsored settlement deal signed between the two Ambani brothers in 2005 for supplying gas from the Krishna-Godavari basin.
The court has given the two brothers six weeks to renegotiate their contract.
