Single-window clearance on cards: CM

Presenting the Chief Minister’s Rathna Awards to 10 public sector undertakings of the State, Yeddyurappa said the PSUs had increased from one at the time of independence to around 4,000 now. He called upon the investors and the PSUs to take maximum benefit of the global investors’ meet scheduled June first week. The State should attract an investment of at least Rs three to four lakh crores, he hoped.

The Minister for Public Undertakings and Municipal Administration Balachandra Jarkiholi said his department has identified at least 12 ailing public sector units in the State, which need to be divested or run as joint ventures.

The department would proceed further after getting Cabinet nod. However, he declined to name the twelve PSUs saying that he does not want to create any controversy now but would disclose it at an appropriate time.

The ten organisations, which got the Rathna Awards were Karnataka Soaps and Detergent Company, Karnataka Road Development Corporation Limited, Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam, Karnataka Jungle Lodges and Resorts Limited, KSRTC, Bescom, BMTC, Karnataka State Bewerage Corporation Limited, Hatti Goldmines Limited and D Devaraj Urs Backward Community Development  Corporation.
