Train services hit due to cyclone 'Laila'

South Central Railway (SCR) cancelled two trains and partially cancelled 36 trains while diverting 13 other trains, officials said."Due to heavy rains and anticipated cyclone, all trains on Vijayawada division of SCR are moving at a restricted speed of 60 kmph. Because of this trains will be running late," a spokesperson of SCR said.

Depending on the severity of cyclone, trains may be stopped en route and some trains cancelled, she said.The Express trains which have been cancelled for today are Train No.7482 Tirupati-Bilaspur Express and Train No. 2842 Chennai-Howrah Coramandal Express.

Due to cyclonic weather, the SCR also diverted 18 long-distance Express trains.
Patna-Bangalore Special train which is regulated at Chirala and will now be diverted to run via Renigunta instead of Dharmavaram.    Guwahati-Bangalore Express which is regulated at Bapatla and will now be diverted to run via Renigunta instead of Dharmavaram.

Thiruvananthapuram-New Delhi Kerala Express which is regulated at Kavali, is re-routed via Gudur, Renigunta, Gooty, Dhone, Kacheguda, Kazipet and Ballarshah.
Chennai-Jammu Tawi Express which is regulated at Nellore, is re-routed via Gudur, Renigunta, Gooty, Dhone, Kacheguda, Malkajgiri bypass, Kazipet and Ballarshah.
Meanwhile, Southern Railway also cancelled some trains in Chennai-Vijayawada section and diverted several others.

Due to rain and cyclone warning, 2712 Chennai- Vijayawada Pinakini Express and 2842 Chennai-Howrah Coromandal Express have been cancelled, a Southern railway release said here.

2077 Chennai-Vijayawada Jan-Shatabdi Express and 2711 Vijayawada-Chennai Pinakini Express were partially cancelled, it said.

Several other trains, including 2641 Kanniyakumari- Hazrath Nizamuddin Thirukkural Weekly Express, 5227 Yesvantpur-Muzaffarpur Weekly Express, 2687 Chennai-Dehradun Weekly Express, 4259 Rameswaram-Varanasai Weekly Express have been diverted.
Both the railway division have set up special information centres to provide information on train services affected due to the cyclone.
