Spl team nabs accused in murder attempt case

Chandrahasa Poojari (37), who was arrested near Thokkottu on Friday, is one of the accused in the murder attempt case.

Three miscreants including Poojari had attempted to murder Guruprasad near Thrishooleshwara Temple in Mangalore North Police Station jurisdiction on May 14. Poojari, who was a resident of Somanatha Colony in Kotekar, was involved in several cases and was absconding for more than six years.

A Shiva Sena activist, Poojari is an accused in a murder attempt case registered in Ullal Police Station. He had attempted to murder one Salim at Someshwar.

He is also wanted in another murder attempt case registered in Kavoor Police Station for attempting to kill one Jamal.

Poojari also had attacked cops from Mysore using sword when they were bringing rowdy sheeter Vamanjur Rohi to Mangalore Jail in 2004.

Similarly, many cases were registered against Poojari at various police stations in Mumbai too.

The accused has been handed over to Manalore North Police for further investigation.
