JOIN US“The Maoists have declared war on the people,” said Karat here on Friday, when virtually mobbed by the media for his reaction to the latest Maoist outrage, as he arrived to speak at a CPI-M organised seminar on the Sri Lankan Tamils issue.
Urging that it was time to see the Maoists action for what it was namely terrorist violence, Karat said they had first started killing CPM cadres in West Bengal and have now begun to target innocent civilians. Hence, the time has come for the entire country to unitedly face this danger and take all necessary measures, both political and administrative, to tackle the Maoists’ threat, he emphasised.
Asked if his party would go along with the Home Minister, P Chidambaram on this issue, Karat said there were several dimensions to this terrorists menace, but made clear the use of the Army will not help to solve the problem.
