The deceased is identified as Chandrappa (47)a stone worker from Sanigenahalli. He was married with three children.

Gambling, arrack heaven
The hilly border area is a heaven for gamblers. After indulging in gambling they usually go to the other side of the border to consume arrack, which is banned in Karnataka. There are also instances of fights occurring between parties after gambling, which results in serious consequences. Police suspect that Chandrappa may have played a game at Dasarlapalli and later after consuming arrack may have fallen near the border and someone must have bludgeoned him.

V Kota and Gangavaram sub inspectors Shivaprasad Reddy, Chinnagovindu and Byreddypalli ASI Karunakaran visited the spot.  The body was handed over to the kin after conducting postmortem. Following a complaint by Chandrappa’s wife Vijayamma a case has been booked.
