They had taken out a protest on Monday pressing for the constrution of underpass near the Dibbur road. The officials then, had promissed to commence the work on Wednesday.
Upset over the officials not keeping their word, the villagers resorted to protest digging up the road.
The agitators threatened continuing their agitation, till the district administration and PWD officials express their stand on the construction of the underpass.
Deputy Commissioner Anwar Pasha who visited the spot, summoned the PWD officials and discussed the matter.
The villagers withdrew their protest after the deputy commissioner assured them of commencing construction work at the earliest.
Taluk Panchayat former vice-president Abdul Kudhus, former mandal pradhan, Venkataramanappa, youth leader M S Shreedhar, Sadashivareddy, Pillanna, Ashwathappa, Somashekara, Madhusudhan and Ramaiah led the protest.
Tahsildar Nagaraj, Circle Inspector Shivkumar, SI Shivaprasad, Public Works Department Engineer Somashekar and other officials visited
the spot.
