Make use of scheme benefits, youth told

He was delivering the presidential address at ‘Skill Recharge 2010,’ a workshop for the upgradation of existing skill in alumni students, organised by the Aura Enterprises and Karnataka Polytechnic here on Sunday.

He said that the government is announcing several schemes for the development of rural areas. Rural youths should make use of the scheme benefits and develop themselves into successful entrepreneurs, he added.

He said that Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat gives more emphasis on education in the district. Several schemes are being implemented in the education sector in the district through the Education Department and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyana, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, BSNL Principal General Manager Y C Mishra said that BSNL, which has a history of 150 years, has about 63 crore connections across the nation. He called upon students to give more emphasis on professional skill development.

Employment Officer Basavaraju, Karnataka Polytechnic lecturer M Karunakara Rai and programme convenor Akshay Adyanthaya were present. Eminent resource persons delivered talks at the day-long workshop.
