JOIN USTP members demand regular meetings
Since the general body meeting was held once in six months, it was difficult to keep a tab on the officials’ performance, the members argued.
The members also demanded that the agenda presented in the previous meeting should be read out again in the subsequent meetings and also a follow-up report should be submitted at the meeting.
Otherwise, the members would not be able to update themselves with the decisions taken in the previous meetings and also about the works executed so far.
Member Narayanappa expressed his displeasure over the fact that none of the decisions taken so far in the earlier meetings had been executed. All the tasks which have been mentioned in the papers and documents that they have been implemented should be proved, he challenged.
Survey sought
He further said, “I have been bringing to the notice of several general body meetings that the Chinnakotekere had been encroached. I have been demanding for a survey of the tank in every meeting. In every meeting, the decision to conduct a survey is taken, but the decision never materialises. It looks like there is no value for the decisions taken at the Taluk Panchayat meetings, Narayanappa alleged.
Borewell without motor
All the members expressed their displeasure over the measures taken to solve the drinking water crisis prevailing in the taluk. It is three years since borewells have been dug in Tamatamakanahalli.
Water is available, but so far, motor has not been installed, said Balamunde Ramoji Rao.
About Rs six lakh amount has been spent at Devaganahalli, Chaliganahalli, Vadandahalli, Maadamuttanahalli, Beerandahalli and several other villages for the construction of water tanks. But there is no water connection to these tanks, alleged Hunkund Venkatesh.
Drinking water crisis
Several villages in the taluk are facing acute drinking water shortage. Several members complained that the dues of the drinking water by the private parties supplied in the last three years in the villages was still pending. Hence, none of the private parties were keen to supply water this year.
The bills under the Swachcha Grama Yojane in Karamangala had been submitted.
However, there are no toilets constructed in the schools at all. The schoolchildren are forced to rush to the fields to relieve themselves, TP member Ashwath took the officials to the task.
Necessary action
On and off we have been bringing the problems prevailing in the villages at the meetings. The executive officer should visit these places along with the concerned officials and take necessary action in this regard.
If meetings are organised on a regular basis, the officials will atleast do their works properly.
Atleast for the sake of follow-ups and regular discussions in the meetings, the officials, out of fear, will do their work properly, Narayanappa said.
If general body meetings are held once in six months, the officials will not perform their duties efficiently, he added. Taluk Panchayat members Hunkund Venkatesh, Ramoji Rao and Ashwath also joined hands with Narayanappa.
Taluk Panchayat President Bharathi Bheemanna, Executive Officer Dr Venkatswamy and officials of the various departments were present at the meeting.
