Chicken stalls to be closed from Monday

Though Gram Panchayat had identified a land at Galigandi for disposal of the waste from these stalls,  the local residents had raised objection against the same. In this regard the stall owners have decided to shut their stalls.

There are 9 chicken stalls in Aldoor, which have been disposing the wastes near Biranji  pond for the last 20 years. The local residents who noticed that the water in the pond is getting contaminated due to this, started pressurising the GP to see to it that the waste is not disposed into the lake. Following this, Aldoor GP members identified a land at Galigandi for disposing off the waste but when the pits were dug in the said land for waste  disposal, the local residents stopped the GP members.

Since there is no proper place to dispose the waste, chicken stall owners have closed down their shops. Each and every chicken stall in Aldoor was closed and had a white plank with reason for closure written on it, stuck outside the shop.

Since a meeting will be held on Thursday to decide on the next move by GP, people will invariably have to wait for another week to relish on some sumptuous chicken dishes. As of now local residents are seen getting chicken from Chikmagalur and Mudigere.
