Taking time off from his battle with the Opposition parties over the illegal mining issue, the Chief Minister presided over a review meeting of developmental programmes with Deputy Commissioners of districts and Chief Executive Officers of all the Zilla Panchayats in the conference hall of Vidhana Soudha.

Free medical check up and medical treatment will be given to every girl child till 18 years under the proposed scheme, Yeddyurappa said.

He directed officials to check corruption and provide effective administration. “I have immense trust in you (officials). So, I have made a lot of promises to people. You have to work towards fulfilling them… I urge all the officials to bring good name to the Government,” he told them.

Aasare scheme

Reviewing the Aasare scheme for housing to the flood-affected in north Karnataka, Yeddyurappa expressed his concern that only 1,000 houses of the 62,000 houses planned, only 1,000 were constructed. Work on the construction of 26,099 houses is under progress. He directed officials to ensure that all houses are constructed by the end of October.
Revenue Minister Karunakara Reddy said many NGOs which had come forwarded to construct houses, have backtracked. An appropriate decision has to be taken in this regard.
