Three held for youth's murder

Manjunath (17) was stabbed to death near Railway quarters, Yeshwanthpur on July 10. Police said, the victim, from Mudalapalya, Vijayanagar, was a juvenile offender and had even undergone imprisonment.

The cops arrested Raghu (25), Umesh (21) and Satish Kumar (25), all residents of Channagiri in Davangere district. The three were into ice business and had push carts of their own.

During interrogation, the three revealed that Satish Kumar and Manjunath set out on a chain-snatching spree.

Since Satish owned a two-wheeler, Manjunath instigated him and the two took to crime. While they were on the prowl in K R Puram, they ran out of luck and were caught by the public. The duo managed to escape, leaving behind the vehicle.

With the help of vehicle registration number, the cops arrested Satish. In turn, the murder case surfaced. Satish explained that when he and Manjunath were chased by the police, he wanted to surrender, but Manjunath was not ready.

Instead Manjunath started blackmailing Satish. Scared of this, Satish informed about this to his relatives - Raghu and Umesh. The three decided to warn Manjunath and took him to Railway Quarters. But things turned ugly and the three eliminated Manjunath.

Slips to death

A 30-year-old man slipped and fell on a pile of wooden logs at a timber yard in Hegde Nagar and died on Tuesday.

Byatrayanapura police said, Murugan, from Tamil Nadu, might have tried to climb the logs, accidentally slipped and fell between them. He might have died of suffocation, the police added.

Girl falls from stairs, dies

An eight-year-old girl slipped from the staircase and died at her Kasturiba Nagar residence in Byatrayanapura on Tuesday.

The victim, Sanchana, daughter of a Bannana dealer was playing near the staircase railings. She lost balance, fell, and succumbed to head injuries.

Woman hangs herself

After a verbal duel over a drink, a woman hanged herself from the ceiling fan hook at Naganathapura in Parapana Agrahara. The victicm - Mahalaxmi (35) -  is the second wife of Mahadev, a mason.

The couple from Tamil Nadu used to drink together every night.

On Sunday night they got into some argument. Upset over the turn of events, Mahalaxmi hanged herself on Monday morning. Police said Mahadev’s first wife also resides in Hongasandra.

Two-wheeler rider killed

A retired HAL employee died in a road accident on Old Air Port Road on Tuesday morning. The victim - Abdul Rehman (65) was carrying water on his two-wheeler when a car rammed into his scooter.

A profusely bleeding Abdul was taken to a nearby private hospital. Later, he succumbed to injuries. Abdul was a resident of Ananasandrapalya. As there was scarcity of water in his area, he was carrying drinking water from the factory quarters.
