Last Updated 15 June 2009, 17:35 IST

Karnataka Daily Wage Employees Association president Chikkamannur, addressing a press meet here on Sunday, urged the government to fix minimum wages for employees working on daily wage basis at various hostels run by the Social Welfare Department.

Harassment alleged

He alleged that the Department officers at Kolar, Srinivaspur, Bangarpet and Mulbagal taluk were harassing daily wage employees by not determining minimum wages, inspite of an order by the government.

Alleging that the officers have even failed to comply with the directions of the court in this regard, he said that the daily wage employees and their family members will take part in the dharna.
