Make arrangements for I-Day celebration: DC

Stringent action will be initiated against officials who skip the celebration

Speaking at the preparatory meeting held at Madikeri Fort premises on Saturday, he said “all the associations and departments must co operate with the district administration in organising the Independence Day grandeously.”

“Independence Day is a day of celebration. All should take part voluntarily in the celebration. The flag hoisting will be held at Fort premises while the cultural programmes will be held at Cauvery Kalakshethra. The officials should compulsorily attend the celebration. Stringent action will be initiated against those who fail to attend the celebration.” District-in-Charge Minister will be invited to hoist the flag, he added.

Sub committees

Various sub committees have been constituted to look into the celebration. All the committees must submit a detailed report on the preparations before August 5, the DC said.

He said festival mood should be created on August 15. Quality cultural programmes must be staged. The officials were asked to take the help of department of public instruction and Kannada and Culture department officials while selecting the cultural programmes. The busts of Mahatma Gandhi, Field Marshal K M Kariappa, General K S Thimmaiah, Kuvempu should be cleaned.”

The DC directed the Commissioner to see that merchants do not sell the plastic flags as plastic is banned in Madikeri.Rotary Misty Hills will felicitate top scorers in SSLC and the winners of various cultural programmes.

Bharath Scouts and Guides district Commissioner K T Baby Mathew, Home Guards Commandant O S Chingappa, Additional DC Chandre Gowda and others were present.
