Temple theft cases: 4 held

Arrested have been identified as Seetharama Shetty (49), a resident of Vittal in Bantwal taluk, Ravi (21) from Aldoor Road in Chikmagalur, Ananda Poojary (20) and Gopala (22) from Beloor taluk in Hassan district. City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said that four temple theft cases were registered against the accused in Sakleshpur Town Police Station.

Meanwhile, eight cases were registered in various police stations in Dakshina Kannada district, he added.

The police team led by Panambur ACP Girish and Inspector Valentine D’Souza arrested the accused.  The Commissioner has announced a reward of Rs 10,000 to the team.

‘Mobile thief’ held

In another operation, the police team has arrested an accused, who was engaged in stealing mobile phones from houses.

A total of 10 mobile handsets were recovered from the accused. The arrested has been identifed as Udayakumar Rai (24), a resident of Panambur. The Commissioner said that the accused used to steal the mobile handsets either gaining entry into houses or through windows. Separate cases were registered against the accused in Mangalore East, Barke and Bajpe police stations.

200 more cops

Singh said that the the Commissionerate would be getting 200 more cops within a short period.  He said that the process of recruitment of cops for Mangalore City Police Commissionerate will commence by the end of August.
