The company reported a profit after tax of Rs 719 crore in the corresponding quarter, last fiscal.
Net sales or income from operations of Hindustan Zinc rose 29 per cent at Rs 1,951 crore, from Rs 1,512 crore in the same period last year, a company statement said.
Meanwhile, Hindustan Zinc and Sterlite Industries both Vedanta group companies are planning a cumulative capital expenditure of Rs 20,000 crore in the next one year to take the overall power production to 6,500 MW from the present 4,500 MW.
