The dead have been identified as Cecelia D’Souza (39) and Molly D’Souza (36), a resident of Adamkudru.
The bus was bound for Keenya Belaringe from Mangalore. While trying to avoid a pothole, the bus driver did not notice Tata Sumo coming from the opposite direction, thus resulting in the collision. Following the collision, the bus turned turtle.
The injured are Leena, Judith, Selen, Vamana, Vas Wald Monteiro, Sundar Bangera, Ansar, Abdul Hameed, Dulsin Pereira, Aida D’Souza, Lilly D’Souza, Alis D’Souza, Jacintha D’Souza, Srijesh, Vinod, Bharath, Manmohan, Sooryaprakash and Ramesh. The deceased were on way to church for attending Sunday mass. Cecelia D’Souza was a teacher at St Theresa School. Molly D’Souza was a tailor. Five persons in Tata Sumo were on way to airport to receive their friend.
Six held
Puttur police raided a lodge and arrested six persons who were indulged in playing ‘ander-bahar’ at Puttur. The arrested are Ujwal B Shetty, Subhash Rai K, Pushparaj, Murthyunjaya, Harish K and Jaya Prakash.
