Rohan, Jacqueline champs

Third-seeded Rohan scored over top seed SDS Krishna after the latter retired midway through the second game. Rohan was leading 21-14, 8-4 when Krishna decided he could no longer go on.

Top-ranked Jacqueline, on the other hand, had to work hard for her win against second seed Nischitha GM before emerging a 21-14, 19-21, 21-9.

Nischitha though, had something to cheer about as she and her partner D Guruprasad claimed the mixed doubles title after seeing off Varsha V Belawadi and Kamaldeep Singh 21-16, 21-14.

The men’s doubles crown went to SDS Krishna and Vineet Manuel who eased past Adarsh Kumar and Venkatesh Prasad 21-10, 21-14.

Results: Men’s singles final: Rohan Castelino bt SDS Krishna 21-14, 8-4 (retired). Semifinals: SDS Krishna bt Rajas Jawalkar 21-14, 21-15; Rohan Castelino bt Mohit Kamat 21-14, 21-10. Doubles final: SDS Krishna/ Vineet Manuel bt Venkatesh Prasad/ Adarsh Kumar 21-10, 21-14.

Semifinals: SDS Krishna/ Vineet Manuel bt Jeevan TR/ Sanjith S 21-13, 31-29; Venkatesh Prasad/ Adarsh Kumar bt Abhijeet Naimpally/ D Guruprasad 21-15, 18-21, 23-21.

Women’s singles final: Jaqueline Rose Kunnath bt Nischitha GM 21-14, 19-21, 21-9.

Semifinals: Jaqueline Rose Kunnath bt Apurva Jagadale 21-5, 21-11; Nischitha GM bt Varsha V Belawadi 13-21, 21-19, 21-14.  Mixed doubles final: Nischitha GM/ D Guruprasad bt Varsha V Belawadi/ Kamaldeep Singh 21-16, 21-14. Semifinals: Nischitha GM/ D Guruprasad bt Adee Ahmed Taqui/ Adfa Taqui 21-17, 21-9; Varsha V Belawadi/ Kamaldeep Singh bt Bhushan V Anvekar/ Meghana Kulkarni 21-15, 21-12.
