Take action to stop illegal activities, Tahsildar tells police

The meet that was conducted in the Thashildhar office premises had various taluk-level association heads participating in it. Devraj presided over the meeting and highlighted the issue and informed that principal should give a written complaint to the police. Police Sub Inspector Mahesh who was present in the meet informed that the department will look into the matter immediately.

“The Government College has a huge premises which includes primary school, high school, college and educational department,” informed PU College Principal Balaji. During the break time and on holidays, miscreants start consuming addictive substances and immoral activities take place in the newly constructed centenary hall, he added.

The Tahsildar further informed that the Ganja seeds thrown after consuming have sprouted into Ganja plants due to the rains and the matter has already been informed to the police during the previous meeting.

“If the matter continues in the similar way, then the college atmosphere will be polluted,” he said. College Development Association President M B Abhimanyu Kumar who was present for the meeting seconded the principal.

Home stay

Kumar also pointed that the new home stay system that has started in Kodagu has brought a bad name to the place as there are chances that naxals and terrorists disguise as tourists and occupy these homes, making way to increase terrorism. Preventive measures should be taken to avoid such dangers, he added.

There are certain criteria to be followed if people want to start homestay. Recently, a person was murdered in the homestay, hence, all these matters should be brought into the District Administration’s notice so that preventive measures can be taken, informed the Thashildhar.

Very few people come to the awareness programmes that are conducted on dowry, child labour and child marriage issues. The purpose of such programmes are lost. Hence, information on such issues should be given by experts when Janaspandana programmes are conducted, he added.

Some officers requested that one portion of the relief fund granted for rain victims should be given to repair government office buildings as people’s documents are getting damaged due to lashing of rains.

Sthree Shakti Bhavan

The construction of the upcoming Sthree Shakthi Bhavan is on a halt due to the lack of funds. This Bhavan also lacks road facilities.

“If these problems are solved, women can freely involve in many social welfare activities,” informed Sthree Shakthi block Society President Mary Aumbudas.  The Town Panchayath chief officer agreed to look into the road matter.

Taluk Child Welfare Officer H S Balram, Police Sub Inspector M Narayan, Taluk Panchayath Administrative officer Nagaraj, Town Panchayath Chief Officer Kenchappa, Swarna Rojgar Project Officer Sharmila, Zilla Panchaytah Assistant Executive engineer Manjunath, Swarna Shiksha Abhiyan Officer Mahadevappa, Agriculture officer Mukund were the other dignitaries present.
