Prakash continues broadside

The BJP government sacked both Prakash and Shruthi as heads of Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Board and Karnataka Women Development Corporation respectively. Interestingly, Prakash was holding the board’s meeting on Monday, as the government was taking the decision to send him out.

Prakash has decided to tour across the State to hold rallies to oppose the BJP rule. He said, he has built an organisation - Varthur Prakash Yuva Sene. The Sene’s first rally would be held at Haveri on June 19. “The main objective of the rallies is to oust the BJP rule. I will mobilise backward classes and minorities against the BJP,” he said. He would remain an independent MLA.

However, Shruthi remained off from the media. She was sacked from the post after she filed a petition seeking legal separation from actor-director Mahender. She had announced that she would marry journalist-turned-cine director Chandrachud, well before her divorce petition was heard in court.

Anti-party activities

Meanwhile, BJP State President D V Sadananda Gowda on Tuesday said that Chief Minister decided to sack Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Board Chairman Varthur Prakash for anti-party activities.

Speaking to reporters here at the inaugural ceremony of his office in Udupi, he said Prakash supported and campaigned for non-BJP leaders during the Lok Sabha polls and crossed all limits of the party’s disciplinary criteria.

He clarified that Karnataka Women Development Corporation Chairperson Shruthi was sacked by the Chief Minister, as her personal life came under severe public criticism. A decision was been taken at the high-level meeting to accept the resignations from the chairpersons of all the Boards. The issue of appointment will be finalised within three days, he said. On the Cabinet reshuffle, he said there will be no major restructuring of the Cabinet. Somanna will be inducted to the Cabinet, he added.
