'Bhoochetana' in 37k hectares

Speaking to reporters during his visit to Totli village in the taluk recently, he said it has been planned to increase the yield by 20 per cent with ragi as the principal crop under the scheme.

The scheme will be implemented in 37,000 hectares of land in the district. Eighty per cent sowing has been completed in the taluk and the task will be completed in remaining extent by August 15, he added.

Assistant Director of Agriculture Department M Gayathri said gypsum, boron, zinc, PSP, trichoderm, minor nutrients, biofertilisers, sowing seeds of ragi, toor, groundnut, paddy and cowpea and farming implements are being distributed at Farmers Contact Centres.
