231 cases solved, property worth Rs 1.73 cr recovered

They have also arrested 114 accused from different parts of the State and outside the State in connection with the cases.

All the 18 police stations under the North division helped in the recovery of property worth of Rs 1.73 crore including 3.5 kg of gold jewellery, 20 kg silver jewellery, 16 four-wheelers, 100 two-wheelers, six auto-rickshaws, one lorry and several electronic items.

A total of 114 accused have been arrested from Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chittor, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, said H S Revenna, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North division).

One killed in road mishap

A 50-year-old man was killed in a road accident on Saturday morning. Ramaiah, a pourakarmika and a resident of Indiranagar, was run over by a BMTC bus headed towards Nagenhalli from K R Market near Begum Mahal junction, killing him on the spot. The police have arrested the driver.

Couple dupes bank

A couple have been accused of duping Kotak Mahindra Bank, Koramangala Branch, of Rs 3.47 lakh by submitting forged documents for residential proof.

The accused has been identified as Pooja and Kishan Chand Punjabi. As per a complaint filed by the bank on Thursday, the couple had taken a personal loan of Rs 3.47 lakh in May 2008.

They were supposed to pay back the loan amount in 36 equal monthly installments of Rs 12,958 starting from May 5, 2008 to April 5, 2012.

The fraud came to the light, when the bank authorities failed to trace them through the address proof furnished by them.
