Firms mop up Rs 61K cr via bonds

The companies, which are listed on the NSE and BSE, have mopped up
Rs 61,344.45 crore in the April-June quarter, through 389 bond issues, against Rs 46,287.06 crore raised in the same period last year, according to the data available with the market regulator Sebi.

While firms raised Rs 16,514.18 crore through 139 bond issues in April, they mobilised Rs 23,974.27 crore in May from 112 issues and the growth trend continued in June also with companies raising Rs 20,856 crore from 138 issues. In all, there were 389 bond issues from corporates during this first quarter, up from 200 in the year-ago period.
