Single windshield norm withdrawn

Transport Minister R Ashok told reporters on Thursday that the order had been withdrawn on the request of autorickshaw unions.

RTOs had refused to provide Fitness Certificates (FCs) to hundreds of autorickshaws as they had failed to switch over to single glass.

Ashok said while the single windshield norm has been withdrawn, there would be no compromise on digital meters.

Auto unions have been told that electronic meters will be made mandatory soon. “We will soon issue orders and fix a time-frame for all autorickshaws to switch over to electronic meters,” Ashok said.
