Strong bond with Canada

The film, directed by Robert Lieberman renowned for Disney’s Mighty Ducks, will revolve around the theme of ice-hockey, for which Akshay Kumar has roped in Vinay Virmani to play the lead.

Canadian born Vinay Virmani, an exceptional ice hockey player from the Canadian South Asian community, has attended the Lee Streesberg Theatre and Film Institute and will play the prime role in the sports-centric film, a theme Akshay Kumar is well acquainted with.
Says a source, “Since this is Akshay’s first Hollywood venture, he decided to produce a film based on sports. He is very excited about it since he’s had a longstanding bond with Canada and is looking forward to working with the team on the film.” Breakaway also stars the Canadian born Emily Van Camp.
