No change in stir plan: Revanna

Last Updated 14 August 2010, 16:01 IST

At a press meet here, he made it clear that there is no questioning of cancelling the agitation as planned earlier and former PM, H D Deve Gowda and others will participate in it for non-release of funds for various developmental works in the district. The JD(S) has set August 20 as deadline for the CM to release grants.

He said instructions are given to hold elections in the party to elect new office-bearers. The idea behind this was to strengthen the party base in the grass roots level. The elections will begin from August 20 up to first week of September.

On padayatra by Congress leaders on the issue of illegal mining, Revanna accused both Congress and BJP of hoodwinking people as leaders of both the parties are in illegal mining business. The Congress did padayatra from Bangalore to Bellary just to divert attention of the people and to gain political mileage. Instead of holding padayatra, they should have pressurised the PM to order a probe into illegal mining in the State. “The present day leaders of Congress party are not like Mahatma Gandhi. The party has lost credibility in the country”.

MLC Patel Shivaram, Zilla Panchayat Vice President S Dyavegowda and others were present.
