Motorist killed in accident

 A moped coming in the opposite direction rammed into Babu Matthew’s (36) bike when he tried to take a U-turn. He breathed his last on the way to hospital. He was a native of Shimoga. The moped rider, Nagesh, too suffered serious injuries and is battling for life.

Sub-registrar trapped

Lokayukta sleuths trapped a senior sub-registrar of JP Nagar while accepting a bribe of Rs 12,000 on Thursday.

The accused Shankaregowda had demanded money to register a residential flat. The amount was being collected through C Ramakrishnaiah, a document writer. According to a release, A V Nagaraju, a Rajarajeshwari Nagar resident, had complained to Lokayukta stating he had bought a flat and at the time of registration, an advocate had told him to arrange Rs 15,000 as bribe to be paid at the sub-registrar’s office.

Woman ends life

Anita, a 23-year-old housewife, committed suicide by hanging herself at her Dasappa Garden residence, recently. She took the extreme step fed up with the alleged harassment by her husband. The police said, Anita's husband was jobless and even after taking money at the time of marriage, he was pestering her to bring Rs 2 lakh.

Rowdy elements held

In a crack down on rowdy elements, CCB sleuths arrested Korangu’s associates near Kempegowda playground in Hanumanthnagar on Wednesday .

Ravi Kumar (33), Darmesh Babu alias Papanna (34), Chakravarthi (31), Ramesh (35) all from Kamalanagar,  N Ravi Kumar (27) of Vidyaranyapura, Imran Pasha (26) Shamanna Garden, Ramu (19) Chikkaballapur, George JB (25) Mysore Road, K Chandrashekar (25) from Vyalikaval are the arrested.

The gang was hatching a plot to kill another rowdy from the area.
