Two trains looted in Uttar Pradesh

More than a dozen robbers looted the passengers of the two trains in two separate incidents that took place within an interval of 30-45 minutes.

Both the robberies took place in the morning while the trains were awaiting the green signal standing in the yard short of the Jhansi railway station.

The robbers first looted the passengers of Bangalore-bound Karnataka Express and later those of the Jabalpur-bound Jammu Tawi Express.

"We have registered a case against unidentified men in connection with the two robberies," Government Railway Police (GRP) inspector Ram Chandra Maurya told reporters in Jhansi, some 300 km from Lucknow.

"We have also sought assistance from the Jhansi district police in order to track down the robbers," he added.

According to GRP officials, they became aware of the two robberies only after the passengers of the two trains registered complaints with them after reaching Jhansi station.
