"We have received a report from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). The report says that Nirupama committed suicide and she was not murdered," a source in the Jharkhand government told IANS.

Nirupama, 23, a Delhi-based scribe, was found dead in her home in Koderma's Chitragupta Nagar. He mother Sudha Pathak was arrested by police May 3. She was given bail by court Aug 3.

Nirupama's  Delhi-based boy friend Priyabhanshu Ranjan accused her family of killing her. Nirupama's family, in turn, charged Ranjan with rape and abetment to suicide. Her family members alleged that she was under depression and committed suicide.

A rape and abetment to suicide case was lodged in Koderma on the directive of a court. A report of a Kolkata-based forensic lab said that the suicide letter which was found after Nirupama's death was written by her, police said. According to police, a three-member team which performed the autopsy on Nirupama, who was pregnant, did not mention the time of her death. Her viscera and foetus were not preserved. The report also made no mention of the injury marks on Nirupama's body.

To clear the confusion, police sought help from AIIMS to know whether it was a case of homicide or suicide. The AIIMS experts' report reached the Jharkhand government Monday, the source said. Nirupama and Ranjan were studying together in New Delhi when they fell in love. Families of both were against their marriage.
